Professional Profile

Ron Bower is President of Bower Consulting Group, LLC, a human resources consulting firm he founded in February 2010.   The “Group” is a network of experienced and talented independent HR consultants that Ron assembles as needed to provide additional support and meet the unique needs of his clients. 

While the Bower Consulting Group has helped solve a wide range of HR related challenges, most clients request his expertise when they need support with recruiting strategy and effectiveness, executive search, executive coaching or team development.  He is viewed as a thought leader, active participant, and perpetual student of recruiting and leadership practices. 

Prior to starting his firm, Ron spent over 27 years in “corporate life,” the last 17 years of which were in human resources leadership roles.  His early professional background in operations and technology management provides a strong foundation in people, project, process improvement and vendor management skills.

He is recognized by business leaders and colleagues as a strategic human resources professional with a passion for delivering results using a practical, no-nonsense approach to solving business problems. He has a track record of working with internal and external partners to initiate positive change through effective leading-edge people practices.  Ron is an active speaker on recruiting and other HR-related topics and has been interviewed and quoted by a variety of local and national publications.

Ron’s corporate experience spans both publicly traded and privately held companies ranging in size from 750 to more than 20,000 employees. He developed strategies for organic corporate growth as well as growth through acquisitions and mergers. During this time he also effectively led clients and staff through multiple economic downturns, reductions in force and complicated regulatory issues.  His corporate and consulting experience has given him the opportunity to be an advisor and confidant to company owners, company presidents, C-suite executives and other senior leaders at a variety of companies in multiple industries.

He facilitates the Cleveland Recruiting Leadership Group, a forum for senior recruiting leaders to learn, discuss and share best practices, success stories and challenges.  Ron is on the Human Resources Advisory Committee of the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park, and provides volunteer HR advisory support to The Entrepreneurs EDGE, a non-profit organization helping mid-market companies grow in value.  He is also a member of the Northeast Ohio Human Resources Planning Society (NOHRPS), the Cleveland Coach Federation and COSE.  

Ron is a Qualified Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® facilitator, certified in a variety of 360
° feedback and organizational development instruments, as well as the Prosci Change Management process.  He is an honors graduate of the School for Bank Administration at the University of Wisconsin and a proud graduate of Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.   

Ron is married to Wendy, his college sweetheart, a college professor and President of her own communications consulting business.  They are the proud parents of two boys; the oldest an Ohio University graduate, currently attending law school and living the dream in Chicago, Illinois and the youngest is living the dream in Athens as an Ohio University student.  When not busy working, Ron and Wendy enjoy traveling, hiking, camping and kayaking.
